The Lady Hawks took advantage of six GMU service errors and took a three point lead midway through the frame. Game two was a hard-fought affair that saw the two teams tied at 29 late in the game. UMES wrestled back as Eller added three of her kills in the first game, but the Patriots closed out the frame with a kill from Janelle Wilson. GMU built a 22-10 lead late in the game behind back-to-back kills by Jacqueline Kohler.
In game one, the Patriots (2-6) grabbed a 7-4 lead and never looked back to earn a 30-19 victory. The loss drops the Lady Hawks to 1-7 on the season. Freshman Holiday Eller (Minnetonka, Minn.) notched a season high 11 kills to lead UMES.
The George Mason volleyball team defeated the Lady Hawks 3-1 (30-19, 31-29, 28-30, 30-21) in the third match of the JMU Invitational on Friday.
